Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
