By no means! By the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 a warning to humans, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
