The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
