Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
