The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
