Wherefore admonish thou! thou art not, by the grace of thy Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people? 32 Do they say: “He has himself fabricated the Qur'an?” No; the truth is that they are altogether averse to believing. 33 So let them bring a discourse like it, if they are truthful 34 Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]? 35 Or is it they who created the heavens and the earth? No; the truth is that they lack sure faith. 36 Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Do they have knowledge of the unseen, thus, are able to predict (the future)? 41 Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
