In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue] and more suitable for words. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 Remember the name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
