The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
