The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
تشير بداية ونهاية كل سورة الى السور المنزلة قبلها و بعدها. يمكنك الضغط على أي منها للذهاب إليها.
The beginning and end of every Surah mention the Surahs sent down before and after. You can click or tap on either one to go there.
