Believers, obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him when you are hearing. 20 And be not like unto those who say: we hear, whereas they hearken not. 21 ۞ The most wicked beasts in the sight of God are the deaf and the dumb who have no understanding. 22 For, if God had seen any good in them, He would certainly have made them hear: but [as it is,] even if He had made them hear, they would surely have turned away in their obstinacy. 23 O believers, respond to the call of God and His Prophet when he calls you to what will give you life (and preservation). Remember that God intervenes between man and his heart, and that you will be gathered before Him. 24 Guard yourselves against discord among yourselves so that it will not mislead anyone of you, especially the unjust, and know that God's retribution is most severe. 25 And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the land, fearing lest people might carry you off by force, but He sheltered you and strengthened you with His aid and gave you of the good things that you may give thanks. 26 Believers, do not betray Allah and the Messenger, nor knowingly betray your trust. 27 And know that your wealth and your children are a test, and that with Allah is an immense reward. 28
