The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
