The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
