Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
