The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
