▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 a warning to humans, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
