A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. Sad. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 We shall recount (their deeds) to them with knowledge, for We were never absent (and saw all they did). 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 and those whose scales are light will be the losers, for they, are the ones who have been unjust to Our signs. 9 We assuredly established you in the earth and arranged for your livelihood in it. Little do you give thanks. 10
