The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
