The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
