He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
