The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
