Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
