And We divinely inspired Moosa that, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night and strike a dry path in the sea for them, you shall have no fear of Firaun getting to you, nor any danger.” 77 So Firaun went after them with his army – therefore the sea enveloped them, the way it did. 78 And Pharaoh led his folk astray, he did not guide them. 79 O children of Israel! indeed We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a covenant with you on the blessed side of the mountain, and We sent to you the manna and the quails. 80 (Saying): Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you, and transgress not in respect thereof lest My wrath come upon you: and he on whom My wrath cometh, he is lost indeed. 81 but to whosoever repents, believes and does good deeds, and is at last guided, I am Forgiving' 82 ۞ And (it was said): What hath made thee hasten from thy folk, O Moses? 83 He said: "They are right behind me. I have hastened to You, O Lord, so that You may be pleased." 84 Said He, 'We have tempted thy people since thou didst leave them. The Samaritan has misled them into error.' 85 So Musa returned to his people wrathful, sorrowing. Said he: O my people! did not your Lord promise you a goodly promise: did then the time seem long to you, or did you wish that displeasure from your Lord should be due to you, so that you broke (your) promise to me? 86 They said: "We did not break our promise to you of our own will, but we were made to carry the loads of ornaments belonging to the people, which we threw (into the fire), and so did Sameri. 87 But then, [so they told Moses, the Samaritan] had produced for them [out of the molten gold] the effigy of a calf, which made a lowing sound; and thereupon they said [to one another,] "This is your deity, and the deity of Moses - but he has forgotten [his past] 88 Did they not see that it did not give them any answer, nor had it power to do them harm or bring them gain? 89
