The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." 22
