The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
