Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
