And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your fathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 no caring friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
