۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
