The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
