He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
