Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 to let loose upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement, 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 [We destroyed] the people of Noah before them. They were certainly a sinful people. 46
