HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 And that He it is Who makes (men) laugh and makes (them) weep; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 Thamud, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 while you make merry? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
