The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
