He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
