The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
