▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude of those of old 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And they used to say, “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we surely be raised again?” 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Aye! we are deprived! 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
