The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
