The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created the human being 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed; 5 The plants and trees prostrate before Him. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
