In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or a little more, and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
