The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 on a great day 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
