Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
