The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 And the Book written 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and the sea that is full 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
