Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a high garden 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And not known my account! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
