The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
