He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
