▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A company of the former peoples 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allah, committing murders and other crimes, etc.) 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you seen that which you emit? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
