Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement. 1 He said: O my people! Lo! I am a plain warner unto you 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 He will forgive your sins and give you a respite for an appointed time. When the time which God has appointed arrives, none will be able to postpone it. Would that you knew this!" 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain: 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 God has spread out the earth 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
