88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 What, out of all of us, has the Remembrance been sent down to him (Prophet Muhammad)' No, they are doubtful about My Remembrance, no, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 And the Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the dwellers of the wood; these were the confederates. 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
