Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
