The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 Behold, We sent a single Blast against them, and they became like the trampled twigs of a sheep pen-builder. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
