Nay, by the Moon 32 By the receding night 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Till death overtook us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like frightened donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
